Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling - Ever since Harry Potter had come home for the summer, the Dursleys had been so mean and hideous that all Harry wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he’s packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange impish creature who says that if Harry returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike.
And strike it does. For in Harry’s second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor and a spirit who haunts the girls’ bathroom. But then the real trouble begins – someone is turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? Could it possibly be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? Or could it be the one everyone at Hogwarts most suspects… Harry Potter himself!
I rated this book 5/5 stars
BEWARE THE SPOILERS
Gilderoy is just such a self-conceited person like HONESTLY. Ron and Harry were BADASSES flying the car to Hogwarts without thinking of a more logical solution. I liked the mention of Ginny forgetting her "diary". I do also feel like Mrs Weasley is too harsh with the things she says with the twins. Harry is just so sweet when he tells Ron he loves the burrow (I mean, who doesn´t?). Ok, when there are drawers with students names in Filch´s office you CAN NOT tell me there wasn´t one for James and Sirius. Nice reference to the vanishing cabinet being broken. We had already seen Malfoy´s discrimination to Muggleborns but when Mrs Norris is petrified he just takes it too far. Also, he keeps speaking about Hermione throughout the book like STOP BEING OBSESSED. The mystery of this book is interesting even though I find it difficult to believe that no one at least heard the Basilisk hissing. Gilderoy is the LITERAL embodiment of what an attention seeker is. I really like the whole backstory and origins of the Chamber of Secrets and Salazar Slytherin. From the duelling club onwards Harry knew what spell he would use in any situation ahahahha. This book shows how much people can criticise and judge you even though they haven´t seen the whole picture. Harry is also really insecure because he doesn´t know where he belongs. This book explores the similarities between Harry and Tom Riddle. I don´t know if it was just me but I did not remember Hufflepuffs being so active in this book. The house-elves have so many powers that most wizards disregard, from being able to disapparate and apparate on Hogwarts grounds to Dobby literally THROWING Lucius. I mean, they are so UNDERESTIMATED. I felt SO SORRY for Ginny spending this exciting experience being possessed and doing horrific things while thinking she was going mad.
